Training Your Dog 101 Reviews
Udemy is a social learning website that allows experts to create courses in their field and sell them to consumers. The Training Your Dog 101 course on Udemy consists of thirteen minutes of video that teaches the basic fundamentals of the concept of clicker training.
REVIEW
Training Your Dog 101 ($20) is marketed towards all levels of users, but it should really be used by beginners who would like a brief introduction to clicker training. Clicker Training is a widely used method of positive reinforcement that provides the trainer with a language the dog, or any animal, can understand. This approach is scientifically validated, and experts from around the world recommend it. It is also user-friendly, meaning that it is impossible to cause harm when using this method, which is not the case for punishment-based training practices. The worst that can happen is the dog-in-training gets extra rewards.
Training Your Dog 101 consists of four lectures. Learners begin with an introduction, and then get the rundown on how dogs learn. After that, a brief lesson on the basics of Clicker Training is provided. Before being sent off to begin training, a list of the next steps is provided, so the learner can delve deeper and learn effective Clicker Training practices. Those who purchase the course get unlimited lifetime access to the materials.
Many reviewers found the information provided to be helpful. That being said, the course was free at one point, so there’s a good chance they weren’t paying for the information. Some reviewers found the videos acted as an infomercial for other courses provided by the duo and provided little educational value in themselves.

CONCLUSION
While Training Your Dog 101 on Udemy provides great information about current methods in dog training, the course is lacking. It is priced fairly high for what the consumer receives, and all of the information can be found by browsing the Karen Pryor Clicker Training website. It should be noted that one of the instructors for this course is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, so she does have a wealth of knowledge to share on the subject. Unfortunately, she doesn’t do that in these lessons.
