The Perfect Dog Reviews
The Perfect Dog Training System is a package designed by Don Sullivan, who began his career in 1986. Before that, Sullivan trained marine mammals at Sealand of the Pacific. He’s been featured on numerous television shows, published a book on the topic of dog training, and invented and designed all the products included in The Perfect Dog Training System.
REVIEW
The Perfect Dog Training System comes with a Command Collar, extra links for the Command Collar, Secrets to Training the Perfect Dog DVDs, a moisture proof field bag, three freedom training lines and a Quick Start Guide.
It should be noted that there is much controversy surrounding the world of dog training. Traditional methods, like those used in this system, are often touted as unnecessary and outdated by many professional training organizations, including the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. You can read more about their findings on punishment and dominance theory, both of which are the core of this program.
The Command Collar was designed by Sullivan, and is used similarly to the more popular choke and pinch collars. These tools are controversial, and even their proponents will say that they can easily cause physical and mental damage when used incorrectly. This is what is most concerning about this system, as the relatively short video tutorial doesn’t guarantee the consumer’s expertise in timing and form, which is likely to end up making any behavioral issues worse or cause injury. Some consumers stated that the plastic collar broke during training, which can create a dangerous situation if the dog breaks free during training sessions outside of a fenced in area.
Reviews from consumers are mixed. There are many who report the system helped fixed their pet’s troubling behavior. There are also many who reported the cost of the system was not worth the minimal guidance they received, and others who called it detrimental to the field of dog training, including dog training professionals.
There are many consumers who complain that their money was taken when they ordered, but they never received their system, or they were not refunded when they returned their order. In these cases, the consumer often got the run-around from customer service, that is, if they were able to get ahold of an actual human being. Consumers should also be aware that all returns/exchanges are made at the cost of the buyer, even if an item arrives broken or if they were sent the wrong size.

SOCIAL PROOF COMPARISON
POPULARITY TREND COMPARISON
- Some report easy and fast changes in behavior
- Train in the comfort of your own home, at your own pace
- Controversial methods require skills that are hard to pick up from a short DVD
- Cheap materials make collar dangerous
- Lack of customer service
- Cost of return and exchange shipping falls on the consumer, even if the company sent a broken or wrong item
CONCLUSION
The Perfect Dog Training System is anything but… perfect. The company itself displays a lack of customer care that is troubling in itself. When you combine that with controversial training methods that can cause harm to the dog when used by the general population that doesn’t have professional guidance, The Perfect Dog Training System just has too many faults to be useful to the average person.
TERRIBLE ! Their DVD’s do not work unless you have a brand new DVD player ( that is according to their customer service person) so unless you want to buy a brand new player for this set, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ! Our player is four years old. But, according to them, our player is too old for use with their discs. REALLY ??? Talked to their manager, Joshua, who was a complete fool. Said others that had sent theirs back for not playing (obviously a major complaint for many other consumers) that the discs played fine at their offices. So no refunds, you pay shipping both ways…what a deal ! ? !
They do not inform you that their discs will only play on new, just purchased DVD players.
What a scam ! STAY AWAY !
